For grain farms & seed cleaning

Farm software that starts at the scale ticket

Every load in and out becomes live inventory, field costs and invoices — with grain prices and the forecast on the same screen. Simple enough to use from the truck.

Bring your own bins, fields and customers — set up takes minutes.

Stooks of wheat sheaves stood on end to dry in a stubble field, with rolling farmland and open sky behind

stook/sto͝ok/noun

A group of sheaves of cut grain stood on end in the field and leaned together, heads up, so the crop dries in the wind and sheds the rain before threshing.

Everything the farm gathers, standing in one place. That is the idea.

From the scale to the bin

Record the load, not the paperwork

Punch in gross and tare — Stook does the rest. Net weight, which bin it went into and which field it came off. Inventory updates the moment the truck pulls away, so the bin board is never a guess.

  • Weigh in and weigh out, straight from the cab
  • Bin levels against capacity
  • Adjustments for shrink, spoilage and count corrections
  • Tonnes, pounds and bushels — your farm’s choice

Market insight

What moved: oats are the standout, up 3.4%, while wheat firmed on slipping crop condition ratings. Worth watching — the next crop progress report and late-August weather across the northern plains.

Costs and value

Know what it cost — and what it is worth

Every input booked against the field it went on, totalled per acre for the crop year. On the other side, futures and local cash bids refresh twice a day, so the value standing in your bins is a number rather than a hunch.

  • Input costs by field, category and crop year
  • Internal and external costs kept separate
  • Cash bids for crops with no public feed
  • A short daily market note, written for farmers

Billing and crew

Bill the work. Pay the crew.

Cleaning 500 bushels for a neighbour is a task, ten logged hours, an outbound load and an invoice — Stook keeps them as one thread. Pick the loads and the hours, and the invoice builds itself.

  • Invoice lines from loads, billable hours, or free text
  • PDF invoices carrying your farm’s logo
  • Tasks assigned to people, fields and customers
  • Payroll totals for any week, month or pay period

Questions

What is a stook?
A stook is a group of sheaves of cut grain stood on end in the field and leaned together, heads up, so the crop dries in the wind and sheds rain before threshing. The name suits software that stands a farm’s records up in one place.
Who is Stook for?
Grain farms and seed cleaning businesses — operations that move product across a scale, track costs by field, and bill customers for grain or custom work.
Does Stook work in pounds and bushels, or kilograms and tonnes?
Both. Each farm picks its units once in settings. Weights are entered and displayed in pounds or kilograms, totals show in short tons or tonnes, and prices convert to match. Bushels are shown alongside for every crop with a bushel weight.
Can employees track their own hours?
Yes. Crew log daily hours and time against specific tasks, and admins run day, week, month or pay-period reports — weekly, bi-weekly or monthly — with a CSV export for payroll.
Where do the grain prices come from?
Futures prices refresh automatically twice a day and are normalized to your currency and units. Crops without a public feed, such as canola, lentils and chickpeas, are priced from the local cash bid you enter, and both value your inventory the same way.
Can I invoice for custom work like seed cleaning?
Yes. Add invoice lines from delivered loads, from completed billable tasks with their logged hours, or type them in freely. Invoices download as a PDF carrying your farm’s logo and details.
